The nightstand knob and cabinet pull are both described as brushed metal. That description does not settle whether they should look identical, intentionally different or simply compatible when the furniture stands together.

Define the matching group first. Then review the actual fittings, because a small round knob and a broad pull present different shapes and visible surfaces even when the same finish name is requested.
Identify which fittings need to relate
List the visible metal parts by furniture item and room position. Include the pull or knob reference, exposed fixing heads and any other nominated fitting. State whether the requirement is a close visual match, a coordinated appearance or a deliberate contrast.
The Two-Drawer Nightstand allows a round metal or customized pull with its finish subject to approval. The Mobile Bedside Cabinet identifies brushed-metal pulls with project-reviewed hardware finishes. Review the selected versions together; their current descriptions do not create an agreed matching set.
Keep other suppliers' room fittings in a separate group unless the furniture supplier is explicitly asked to coordinate with them. A bathroom fitting or wall light should not become an unnamed reference that purchasing discovers later.
Separate color, texture and visible direction
Record the nominated part identity and the finish reference provided by its supplier. Distinguish the color direction from surface texture, sheen and any visible brushing direction. A color phrase does not identify the underlying metal or complete surface specification.
For a curved knob, indicate which face matters in normal use. For a longer pull, identify its visible face and how any directional texture relates to the drawer front. Do not rely on a small flat finish chip to answer every question about the shaped fitting.
Compare the fittings in the furniture setting
Use actual proposed parts with representative furniture finishes under agreed viewing conditions. Place the items as they will be seen in the room. Retain the component references and the accepted relationship rather than expecting a photograph to serve as an exact color standard.
| Matching group | Detail to record | Approval question |
|---|---|---|
| Nightstand pair | Same nominated knob and part finish | Which variation is acceptable between the pair? |
| Cabinet and nightstand | Different fitting shapes and visible faces | Close match, coordination or contrast? |
| Exposed fixing | Fixing head and surrounding hardware | Should it belong to the same visual group? |
| External room fitting | Supplied reference and responsible supplier | Is coordination included in the agreed scope? |
Appearance approval does not establish corrosion resistance, cleaning compatibility or another performance requirement. Where these matter, request the relevant information for the actual component and intended use. Do not infer it from the finish name.
Retain the part identity for later replacement
Keep the accepted component reference, finish reference and group decision with the furniture order. If a later replacement fitting is proposed, compare its identity and appearance rather than accepting a shared color description as proof of equivalence.
The cabinet handle guide covers shape and operation. This review covers the appearance relationship between already nominated metal fittings.
For a coordinated furniture enquiry, send the item list, proposed hardware references, matching groups and any external samples. The final agreement should say which parts are being coordinated and what relationship has been accepted, without promising that all similarly named metal finishes are identical.
