A 160 cm chaise is not a 160 cm shipping package. Protective material, the packing arrangement and any separate parts determine what the carrier actually receives. A freight enquiry needs the proposed packages, even when the furniture dimensions are already settled.

Ask for the package schedule before calculating
The Coastal Chaise Lounge measures 160 × 90 × 82 cm overall. Those are furniture dimensions, not a published carton specification. Request each package’s external length, width, height, quantity and gross weight. Identify whether a pallet or crate is already included in those measurements.
Do not multiply one representative carton by the furniture count if an item has several differently sized packages. A carton schedule should say which packages travel with each ordered item.
Work in one unit and show the arithmetic
For rectangular packages measured in centimetres, cubic metres equal length × width × height ÷ 1,000,000. The following numbers are hypothetical packaging examples, not packing information for the chaise or another site product.
| Package group | External size in cm | Quantity | Combined m³ |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 100 × 60 × 40 | 2 | 0.48 |
| B | 80 × 50 × 30 | 1 | 0.12 |
| Total | Three packages | 3 | 0.60 |
If those boxes are subsequently palletized, obtain the complete loaded-pallet envelope. Do not simply add the loose-carton total to the pallet envelope: that counts the same goods twice.
Volume is not the freight price
DHL’s weight and dimensions guidance distinguishes actual weight from volumetric weight for its Express services. Its published calculation belongs to that service; it is not a universal rate rule for every air, road or sea shipment.
Ask the chosen provider which measurements, rounding rules, minimum charges and handling conditions apply. A low calculated cube does not prove that a package is accepted by a particular service. Keep weight and dimensions in their own fields rather than converting cubic metres into kilograms without a stated charging rule.
Replace estimates with the confirmed packing version
Mark early dimensions as proposed and ask when they will be checked against the packed order. A change to protection, assembly format or pallet arrangement should trigger a new freight review. Use the packaging brief to agree that handover. For a furniture and packing enquiry, send item quantities and destination, and request the packing schedule needed by your forwarder.
