When a glazed cabinet door is damaged, “send another piece of glass” may not be a workable service plan. Buyers should agree what can actually be replaced, which measurements control the order and who is responsible for professional removal and refitting.

Identify the service unit before the order
The bamboo glass-door sideboard visibly combines bamboo-framed glazed fronts and a dark metal base. Its product direction leaves the glass specification and hardware to project approval. The image cannot tell you whether retainers are removable, whether the frame can be opened or whether glass-only replacement is supported.
Ask the supplier to price and describe the supported route: glass only, a pre-glazed framed door, or a complete door with its agreed hardware. Record exclusions such as local labour, disposal, access or replacement packing.
Keep a glass record tied to each door
The record should identify the door position and drawing revision, finished glass size and thickness, edge treatment, colour or coating, and any holes or notches. Include the approved glass type and applicable evidence for the intended use; do not assume safety-glass status from a clear photograph.
Viridian’s custom-processing guidance treats holes and cut-outs as planned glass-processing details with limits. Obtain the approved replacement drawing from the responsible supplier or glazing professional rather than reconstructing it from a broken pane.
Allocate survey, supply and installation
Name who confirms the replacement size, approves the glass specification, supplies retainers or seals, provides transport protection and carries out installation. The person ordering the pane and the person installing it should work from the same approved revision.
| Decision | Evidence required | Responsible party to name |
|---|---|---|
| Replacement unit | Glass-only, pre-glazed frame or complete-door proposal | Furniture supplier |
| Part identification | Door position and approved glazing drawing | Surveyor or appointed professional |
| Retainers and seals | Matching parts list and replacement scope | Supplier and installer |
| Completion | Door operation and condition record | Appointed installer and buyer |
Check the completed repair as an assembly
Ask the responsible professional to document the restored door, retaining arrangement, normal opening and closing, and any remaining frame damage. A pane that fits does not by itself close the repair if the door binds or the frame is damaged.
Keep the service record with the original test and certificate evidence where applicable and the handover pack. This is a purchasing and responsibility checklist, not instructions for removing glass or modifying retainers.
Send a decision-ready inquiry
Send the cabinet reference, door position, available drawing and clear condition photographs through our project inquiry. Request a confirmed replacement unit and a written split of supply, packing and local installation responsibilities.
