OAKRIDGE ACADEMIC LIBRARY
Oakridge Academic Library combines the visual character of a traditional university reading room with the precision of contemporary contract furniture. Long communal study tables, high-capacity bookcases, individual reading seats and architectural millwork are coordinated in a deep walnut-tone engineered bamboo finish, creating a calm and durable environment for study, research and collaboration.
The library required furniture that could support long daily use while preserving a quiet, established academic atmosphere. Large reading tables, extensive book storage and individual study positions needed to feel consistent with the architecture, remain comfortable for extended study and withstand high-traffic institutional use.
We developed a coordinated furniture language using engineered bamboo in a refined dark finish. Robust table proportions, integrated task-lighting zones, high-capacity shelving and durable seating create a cohesive study environment while maintaining clear circulation, visual order and a warm material character.

Three design priorities organize the library around concentration, capacity and long-term durability.
Generous shared tables create structured study zones with comfortable spacing, integrated power positions and task lighting for extended reading sessions.
Tall, precisely aligned bookcases maximize collection capacity while strong vertical framing gives the stacks an architectural, permanent quality.
Reading tables are positioned to benefit from natural light and exterior views, balancing a formal library atmosphere with a comfortable, welcoming study experience.

Engineered bamboo offers the strength, stability and repeatable finish needed for large-scale library furniture packages.
