A sofa described as a three-seater may have fewer than three seat cushions. A divided cushion arrangement may also suggest places to sit without defining their usable widths. When ordering lounge furniture, keep the intended seat count and the cushion layout in separate fields.

This matters when a project wants the same design in more than one size. Shortening a sofa and changing its cushions are related decisions, but they are not the same instruction.
Start with the published configuration
The Modern Bamboo Lounge Sofa is described as a three-seat direction. Its final width, seat height and cushioning remain subject to project review.
The Bamboo 3-Seater Lounge Sofa is also a three-seat reference. Its customization section allows two- or three-seat configurations to be reviewed. That is a development option, not confirmation that a two-seat version is already specified or available on identical terms.
Identify the reference and the requested configuration together. If both sizes are needed, give each its own quantity and proposed drawing rather than one overall sofa total.
Show the seating area without the cushions
Ask for a front view and a plan view that distinguish the overall frame width from the usable area between the arms. Mark the proposed sitting positions on those views.
Then add the seat cushions and back cushions as a separate layer. Record whether a seat cushion spans more than one intended position, where divisions fall and how the back cushions relate to them. The number of visible seams does not establish a structural load rating or an approved occupancy.
| Part of the brief | What to identify | What still needs review |
|---|---|---|
| Seating configuration | Requested two- or three-seat version | Usable seating space for that version |
| Frame | Overall size and clear area between arms | Proportions and construction after a size change |
| Seat cushions | Quantity, divisions and proposed positions | Fit and support on the selected frame |
| Back cushions | Quantity and relationship to the seat layout | Position, support and the accepted comfort arrangement |
Review the version people will actually sit on
A fabric sample cannot resolve a cushion division. Review the proposed cushion layout on the relevant sofa sample or an agreed representative arrangement, and record exactly what was represented.
Include sitting near a division and using the end positions beside the arms in the agreed comfort review. If a cushion is shared across two positions, check the intended arrangement rather than assuming that a separate cushion would feel the same. Keep required structural assessment with the supplier and the responsible project team.
The contract upholstery guide covers the separate textile, cushion-construction and care decisions.
Keep the two sizes identifiable in the order
Retain the accepted seat count, frame drawing and cushion layout under the same version reference. A later change to one should trigger a review of the others it affects.
For a sofa configuration enquiry, send the selected product reference, the requested sizes and quantities, and a marked cushion arrangement. State any unanswered comfort or construction questions. Final configuration, performance requirements and supply details follow the approved project specification.
