Two black castors of the same visible wheel size can attach in completely different ways. A useful spare-wheel brief identifies the interface to the cabinet, the assembled height and the approved replacement combination before a maintenance team needs the part.

Separate the wheel from the attachment
The mobile bamboo storage cabinet shows two open compartments on the left and three drawers on the right, supported on castors. The picture shows mobility but does not identify the hidden mounting plate, stem, thread or reinforcement below the cabinet.
Request an underside drawing or supplier photograph of the proposed fixing. Identify whether a complete castor is the service part or whether the wheel alone is replaceable. Keep the manufacturer and part reference with the furniture revision.
Measure the interface appropriate to that fitting
Blickle’s fitting guide distinguishes plate, bolt-hole and stem attachments and lists different dimensions for each. For a plate, record its outline, hole spacing and hole diameter; for a stem, request the relevant diameter, length and retention details.
Also ask for total installed height and swivel clearance. A wheel-diameter match does not establish these. Ask the furniture supplier to confirm the attachment and substrate combination; a hardware catalogue load figure is not a verified load rating for the complete cabinet.
Compare a candidate spare against the approved record
Use the table to record “matched”, “different” or “not yet verified”, rather than accepting a seller’s “universal” description. Include any washers, sleeves, fasteners or inserts that form part of the approved assembly. Do not enlarge holes or substitute screws to make a trial fit.
| Field | Original approved part | Candidate spare decision |
|---|---|---|
| Attachment | Plate, stem, thread or other fixing | Exact interface confirmed |
| Geometry | Applicable hole pattern or stem dimensions | Matched without site alteration |
| Installed position | Overall height and swivel envelope | No unapproved height or contact change |
| Complete assembly | Fixings, substrate and intended use | Supplier-approved combination |
Verify the whole cabinet after an approved replacement
Have the supplier or appointed technician demonstrate the replacement and check that the cabinet remains at the agreed height, sits as intended and moves through its normal route. Review any intended locking function separately using the mobile-cabinet parking brief.
If changing only some castors, obtain approval for the mixed set. Keep the original and replacement references, installation record and any resulting limitations with the maintenance handover. A spare part is accepted through fit and function, not its photograph.
Send a decision-ready inquiry
Send the cabinet reference and the supplier’s underside fixing record through our inquiry page. Ask for a documented replacement part or a reviewed alternative with installation responsibility and cabinet-level verification.
