A sofa can sit neatly beside a closed curtain and catch the fabric when it opens. The furniture plan needs the curtain’s gathered position and moving path, not only the window opening.

Ask for the completed curtain arrangement
Obtain the track position, draw direction, fabric arrangement and proposed gathered footprint from the curtain supplier. A track line by itself does not describe how far the finished fabric projects into the room.
Lutron’s guestroom window-treatment guidance discusses stack-back clearance and coordination between track installation and the fabric workroom. Use the actual curtain design rather than transferring a generic percentage or a different supplier’s dimension.
Mark three states against the furniture
Draw the fabric closed, moving and gathered. Include furniture arms, projecting tops and objects intended to remain on those tops. A low cabinet body may clear while a lamp or display object reaches the fabric path.
For a manual curtain, ask how the operator reaches the intended control. For a powered arrangement, leave operation and service requirements to its specialist. This review concerns the furniture interface; it does not specify a curtain motor or electrical installation.
| Curtain state | Boundary to record | Conflict to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Closed | Room-side fabric projection | Furniture touching or distorting fabric |
| Moving | Swept fabric path | Arm, top or display object catching fabric |
| Gathered | Actual stack-back footprint | Furniture occupying the gathered volume |
| Operated or serviced | Specialist-confirmed access | Furniture preventing intended access |
Use the sofa arm as an actual boundary
The three-seater bamboo lounge sofa has an exposed bamboo frame and upholstered seating. Its arm and back outline should be reviewed against the fabric movement, including the sofa’s agreed final position. Do not rely on the apparent gap in a perspective image.
If the sofa must move to let the curtain work, the room has an unresolved daily-use conflict. Compare a different sofa position or a curtain arrangement reviewed by its supplier before changing the furniture dimensions.
Confirm the interface with both suppliers
Record the approved furniture outline and curtain envelope on the same elevation and plan. Recheck if the fabric fullness, draw direction, track location or sofa size changes. An approved fabric colour alone does not settle this interface.
Send those drawings and the intended operating method with a window-side bamboo seating enquiry. Review upholstery lightfastness separately; keeping the curtain free to move says nothing about the fabric’s resistance to sunlight.
